    The report of the internship is examined by internship defence commission, which consists of at least 3 lecturers. The final assessment is influenced by the all assessments:

    • practice leader’s assessment;

    • practice report’s assessment;

    • practice report’s defence.

    9. The Study Programme’s Practical Realization

    9.1. The Study Programme Comparison with Accredited Programme in 2006

    The higher education professional Bachelor's programme “European Economics and Business” was accredited in 2006 (The accreditation paper No 050-1036. The Decision of The accreditation Commision No 1058 of 2006.07.12).

    The Programme Council pays big attention to the quality of teaching and programme development. The Accreditation commision's and experts' recommendations, changes in regulations No 481 of the Cabinet of Ministres of the Republic of Latvia of 20 November, 2001 “Regulations on the 2nd level higher education national standard” ( the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No 348 of 2007.05.29), as well as co-operation with employers stumulate to invest the changes in the programme contents. The following changes were performed:

    1. The new courses were included:

    • A I part “Study course of general education”: “General Psychology” (2 CP) and “Methodology of Graduation Paper Preparation and Defence”;

    • B part “Professional Optional Courses”: “The EU: Institutions, Politics, Economics”(2 CP).

    1. The titles of some courses were precised:

      • “Introduction to Economics Theory” into “History of Economics Theory” (2 CP);.

      • “Commercial Rights’ into “Organization and Legal Basics of Commerce” (3 CP)

      • “Basics of Research Work” into “Theory and Methodology of Scientific and Study Work”.

    2. The following courses were subsituted:

    • “International Economics” for “Economics of European Countries” (3 CP);

    • “Legal Regulation of International Economics Relations” for “Legal Regulation of the EU Market Circulation” (2 CP);

    • “Floater Market” for “European Floater Market” (2 CP);

    • “International Entrepreneurship” for “European Business” (2 CP);

    • “Monetary System and Currency Markets” for “European Monetary System and Currency Markets” (2 CP);

    • “Project Management” for “European Funds and Project Management” (2 CP);

    • “Social Pedagogics” for “Pedagogical Basics”, diminishing the number of the credit points from 2 to 1, transferring them to the part A I “The Study Courses of General Education”.

    4. The volume of the introductory internship was diminished from 6 to 2 credit points. Also, the volume of basic internship was decreased from 12 to 10 credit points, including 6 credit points for projection internship.

    In total, the changes in the study programme don’t exceed 20%.

    In fact, changes in the study plan don’t concern to the organisation of the study process.

    The great attention was paid to the increasing of the bibliographic and informational materials for the acquiring the programme “European Economics and Business”.

    The programme was made in co-operation with the agents from companies and offices, assuring, that the programme will gain application in the real work environment and close contacts will develop to ensure the practice place. The higher school co-operation with employers gives possibility to form current themes for the course papers and qualification papers.

    The programme is internationaly oriented, so that students can get acquainted with globalisation process of economics. There is intensive acquirement of the business foreign language (English and German) and there is offered the opportunity to acquire the second language, too.

    9.2. Conformity of the Study Programme to the Standard of the 2nd Level Professional Higher Education

    The educational Programme “European Economics and Business” provides with the 2nd level professional higher education. It is structured in order to students during four (full-time studies) or four and a half (part-time studies) could get not only necessary theoretical knowledge, but practical experience-oriented knowledge in accordance with Latvian and international contemporary requirements and recommendations. .

    The Study Programme is worked out in accordance with the standard of the professional higher education (the Cabinet of the Ministers of the Republic of Latvia Regulations No 481 of 20 November 2001) and Law of Higher Education.

    The study Programme has been worked out according to the 2nd level professional higher education standard and profession standard (confirmed by the order No 241 of the Ministry of Science and Education of 20 April, 2004, the registration number PS 0254)

    9.3. The Study Programme “European Economics and Business' Conformity to the standard of professions

    The 2nd level professional Bachelor's Programme is created according to the standard of the profession “Economist” (Appendix 6). The study disciplines provided with the Programme give the opportunity to get the qualified professional education corresponding to the statutory acts, time and the demands of the modern labour market.

    The HSP Programme “European Economics and Business” conformity to the standard of professions is shown in the table.

    Conclusions: the study programme “European Economics and Business” perfectly corresponds with the requirements of the professional higher education state standard and with the standard of the profession Economist fifth qualification level.
