VI.CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTIONS BY SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION & ASSESSMENT:

  1. Resolution to Apply for Improving Literacy Through School Libraries Program

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution to Apply for Improving Literacy Through School Libraries Program for Fiscal Year 2009. This is a US Department of Education Grant. Award Date: July 2009; Award not to exceed $500,000; Award period: Twelve (12) months. ACTION IS REQUESTED AT THE MARCH 9, 2009 CONFERENCE MEETING.

  1. Resolution for Board Review of Early Childhood Program State Aid Enrollment Report as of October 15, 2008

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution for Board Review of Early Childhood Program State Aid Enrollment Report as of October 15, 2008. The report was completed following a review by the Department of Education, Office of Fiscal Accountability and Compliance, regarding the District’s recordkeeping procedures for reporting student enrollment on the ASSA. The Board is required to review publicly all of the findings contained in the report. (Attachment 1-b)

  1. Resolution Approving the Designation of Trenton Central High School West as a Separate School

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution Approving the Designation of Trenton Central High School West as a Separate School. This separate distinction will allow the District to better serve the educational needs of the students.

  1. Educational Services Contract – EverFi, Inc.

BE IT RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent of Schools, approves the Resolution for an Educational Services Contract with EverFi, Inc., for a program to provide literacy financial modules to students, for the period April 1, 2009 through June 19, 2009 at a cost not to exceed $3,000.00. The program will be a high school initiative involving 40 students at Trenton Central High School and Daylight/Twilight. The total cost of the program is $8,000.00. Janssen Pharmaceutical Company will contribute $5,000.00 towards the cost.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Trenton Board of Education, upon the direction of the Superintendent of Schools, directs administration to obtain a purchase order and have it provided to the vendor/consultant prior to receiving any goods or services from said vendor/consultant.
